Tonight is our last night staying with Dan, Jessica, Kira and Kenya in Denver, CO. We've had a great 2 days here, packed full of hikes, cooking and eating.
We arrived in Denver Friday evening after an unmemorable drive from northern Wyoming. It was nice to get out of the car and hang out in the backyard with Kira and Kenya, and eat a good dinner.
Saturday morning we woke up and went over to the community garden to water the plants. Then, we went on a shorter hike up to a lookout over the neighborhood with a good view of the Denver area. We even got to do some fun scrambling up some rocks.
Saturday night we made a good dinner of lentils, rice, and kale. We even made a strawberry-rhubarb crisp for dessert!
Sunday morning we woke up and drove west to go on a hike high up in the mountains. We had a great afternoon hiking up to almost 12,000 feet, with only minor headaches on the way back down.
We came home from our hike and quickly fried up the falafel we had prepared the night before. Along with the tzatziki and tabouli, it was a great dinner!
Tomorrow morning we'll wake up early and start our drive to Salina, Kansas. Until then, check out the rest of our pictures from Denver in the slide-show below (or click the slide-show for bigger photos).
