We woke up early on Tuesday to get a head start of the traffic. Halfway through making breakfast at around 6:45AM , Scott and Nina arrived at our house to surprise us with croissants and mimosas. The rest of the housemates joined us and we all toasted our departure.
We got on the road and out of the Seattle with no issues, and once over the pass the sun broke through the clouds and we had great driving weather. With only a quick stop just after crossing the Columbia River, we made it to Spokane in time for lunch. Thanks to the cross-country food book given to us by Maeve's parents we found Frank's Diner just off the highway. This classic train-car diner hit the spot, and after a great lunch we got back on the road.
The scenary was beautiful crossing into Idaho and Montana, and in no time we found ourselves arriving at Maeve's uncle Ray's ranch in Thompson Falls, MT, but not before an exciting final few minutes driving down his driveway!
Next post: Details of our time at the ranch.
I think mimosas pre-work day needs to happen more often :)
