We arrived in Kansas City on Tuesday late morning and drove straight to lunch at Smokin' Guns BBQ, recommended to us by some locals (friends of Mike's dad).
After lunch we walked around the Plaza shopping area near our hotel, but we mostly hung out inside Barnes & Noble and Starbucks since it was so hot out. Finally our hotel room was ready, and we relaxed in our air conditioning for a few hours. We had purchased tickets ahead of time for the Royals game that evening, so we went out for an early dinner at Niecie's and some good fried chicken.
Luckily our seats were in the shade by the time the national anthem was sang, but the starting temperature at first pitch was around 107˚. The game was still enjoyable though, even though the home team ended up losing 8 to 2. We even got some free Royals swag upon entering the ballpark!
The next morning we woke up early and started the drive on our longest travel day yet, east to St. Louis and then down to Nashville, TN.
